Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue were one of the four recipients of our Special Anniversary Award of £25,000. Emily Harper sent us this thank you, and an update on their plans for how to make best use of the Award…
Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue is delighted to receive a grant from the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust. The money will enable us to replace our hutches. Our existing hutches are difficult for our volunteers to clean and the new veterinary standard units will provide more space for the hedgehogs. Our hutches are over eight years old and we admit 400 hedgehogs every year, so they are well used.
The funding will also enable us to offer hoglet training to volunteers and support other hedgehog rehabilitation centres with hoglet care. Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue has an excellent record in hand rearing hoglets with success from as small as 15g, just 1 day old. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust. This grant will make a huge difference to our small charity!
With thanks to Emily and Lotty for the photographs.
