Martin Maylin from Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary is ready to go with a new rescue vehicle, funded by JSAWT

We are very careful to release rehabilitated hedgehogs only to safe sites where the likelihood of them thriving is high. This includes transporting to local gardens and areas agreed with farmers and other landowners. A vehicle is essential for this, including the ability to go “off-road” to assess and subsequently use where appropriate suitable release sites in rural areas.

We typically travel around 8,000 miles a year rescuing and releasing hedgehogs as well as driving to undertake education and outreach activities in the local community. We cover a wide area in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
