North Clwyd Animal Rescue bought some outbuildings in 1992 and were faced with the enormous task of converting them into kennels and catteries. After contacting the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust, Mark Spurdens, one of their trustees paid us a visit and, after exploring the barns by torchlight, advised us on the way forward.
This was the start of a very long journey which was helped along the way by donations from the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust. In July 1994, we were honoured to receive a visit from Mrs Sainsbury and her husband. Mrs Sainsbury invited NCAR to become one of their ten affiliated charities. Over the years, we have received regular donations for ongoing costs and larger donations for building projects such as our new Stray Block, our Exercise Paddocks and Moggy Mansion.
