40th visit and ‘thank you’ from WECare Worldwide

Janey Lowes, founder of WECare Worldwide, receiving the plaque – watched by an approving Mrs Sainsbury!

We don’t get many visitors, so it was an absolute pleasure to welcome Janey Lowes to our head office in September,  to hand over the 40th Special Award Plaque.
Janey singlehandedly set up WECare in 2014 and The Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust were on board from early on, offering financial assistance.
WECare sent us a lovely thank you message in recognition of our support:

We are thrilled and beyond thankful to be awarded the Jean Sainsbury’s 40th anniversary award. This incredible award will be used to get a veterinary ambulance on the road in Sri Lanka, ensuring animals in desperate need can be safely transported to the WECare hospital and receive life-saving treatment en-route.
It will also cover the cost of a dog-catching vehicle which will ensure up to 40 dogs per day can benefit from our high standard CNVR (catch-neuter-vaccinate-release) programmes; ultimately providing them with a much better chance of a happy, healthy and long future in the community.
With one roaming dog for every eight people in Sri Lanka, the need for veterinary support is huge and to have Jean Sainsbury’s recognise this in such a generous fashion is just the stuff of dreams for us as a small charity! We can’t thank them enough for believing in us!
